Krunal Pandya has been appointed to captain India at the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes 2026 tournament. The leadership change comes after Bhuvneshwar Kumar received a call-up to the national team for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, which is scheduled to begin on October 22.
Following Bhuvneshwar's departure, Gujarat Titans pacer Kulwant Khejroliya has been named as his replacement in India's seven-member squad. The Hong Kong Sixes tournament is scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 1. Krunal will lead a squad that includes Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, T. Natarajan, and Khejroliya.
Krunal Pandya recently played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad that successfully defended its Indian Premier League title in 2026, marking his fifth IPL trophy overall after winning three previously with the Mumbai Indians and back-to-back titles with RCB. During the 2026 IPL season, the all-rounder scored 226 runs at an average of 37.66 with a strike rate of 145.80 and claimed 14 wickets.
