Mohammad Salahuddin, head coach of the Bangladesh High Performance Unit, stated on Wednesday, October 28, that he is hopeful Aliss Al Islam will correct his suspect bowling action while emphasising that mental support is currently more crucial than technical fixes. Aliss was reported for a suspect bowling action during a Tri-Series match against Afghanistan in the United Arab Emirates. The Bangladesh Cricket Board subsequently instructed Salahuddin to work with the bowler prior to his official assessment at an International Cricket Council-accredited laboratory.
The assessment must take place within fourteen days of the report, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board informing the International Cricket Council of plans to send the bowler to Chennai. Having previously worked with other reported bowlers, Salahuddin stressed that a player unable to play cricket faces a major challenge, making moral support essential. He expressed regret over limited time due to practising with another team but noted he is monitoring progress and feels hopeful.
Salahuddin also cautioned against altering the action at the expense of bowling effectiveness. He noted that only Abdur Razzak successfully maintained efficacy after remodelling his action. Consequently, officials must balance maintaining effectiveness with strong mental support, though he remains hopeful the bowler will recover soon.
