Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has made history by becoming the first bowler to claim 200 wickets in men's T20 Internationals. He achieved this milestone during the second T20I match against Zimbabwe at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday, dismissing Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter Tadiwanashe Marumani.

Rashid reached the historic 200-wicket landmark while defending a target of 222, extending his lead at the top of the all-time T20I wicket-takers' list. He made his international debut against Zimbabwe in October 2015 and previously became the format's leading wicket-taker in September 2025 by overtaking New Zealand's Tim Southee.

During the same match, Afghanistan recovered from a score of 5/4 to post a total of 221/7. Azmatullah Omarzai scored 116 runs from 50 balls and shared a 142-run partnership with Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai, who contributed 52 runs. Rashid also added an unbeaten 25 runs from six deliveries near the end of the innings.

In response, Zimbabwe fell 19 runs short of the target despite a century from captain Sikandar Raza. The victory marked Afghanistan's eighth successive T20I series win against Zimbabwe, further establishing their dominance in the format.

Following the conclusion of the match, Rashid and Raza shared a warm embrace on the field. The achievement adds another remarkable milestone to Rashid's illustrious cricket career as a leading international player.
