South Korean badminton players Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Badminton World Federation World Tour Denmark Open after securing a comeback victory against China. The world's top men's doubles pair, representing Samsung Life Insurance, defeated China's Chunboyang and Liu Yi with a score of 2-1 at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense, Denmark.
The match lasted for one hour on the 15th, Korea time, during the round of 16. After dropping the first game 14-21 following early struggles and net errors, the South Korean pair raised their tempo in the second game and won 21-13. The final third game proved fierce as they overcame a deficit after the interval to claim a 21-16 victory, extending their head-to-head record against the Chinese duo to 6-0.
Looking to bounce back from recent international setbacks, the pair aims to regain confidence during their current two-leg European tour, which includes the Denmark Open and the France Open. They previously won a bronze medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and missed out on victories in seven consecutive recent international tournaments.
In the upcoming quarterfinals, Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae will face Japan's Kumagai Kageru and Nishi Hiroki, who are ranked 19th in the world. The Japanese pair advanced after defeating England's Ben Lane and Sean Vendy in the round of 16. Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae previously defeated the Japanese duo 2-1 in the quarterfinals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
