Karnataka claimed a first-innings lead over Tripura on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match in Mysuru on Tuesday, reaching 297 for seven in 95 overs. Scoring at 3.2 runs per over, the home team built a 103-run lead over Tripura's first-innings total of 194, securing an innings lead for the first time in three outings this season.
Playing in his second first-class match, opener Rohan Patil laid the foundation with 72 runs from 130 balls, while K.V. Aneesh contributed 68 runs from 142 balls for his third consecutive half-century. Karun Nair added fluency to the innings by scoring 63 off 85 balls, forming a crucial 105-run fourth-wicket partnership with Aneesh. Despite these contributions, batters Rohan and Aneesh ultimately fell after throwing away their starts, with Rohan out lbw to Abhijit Sarkar and Aneesh caught at mid-wicket off spinner Parvez Sultan.
Following Karun's dismissal lbw to off-spinner Sandip Sarkar and skipper Shreyas Gopal getting bowled by an arm ball from Sultan, Tripura managed to apply late pressure. At stumps, Aneeshwar Gautam was batting on 33 and Manvanth Kumar was on six, bringing the total to 297 for seven as Karnataka focused on substance over style.
