India's run at the Denmark Open 2026 concluded in the quarter-finals on Friday in Odense, Denmark, after defeats for Tanvi Sharma in women's singles and the women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand.
Tanvi Sharma, ranked 24th in the world, was defeated 21-15, 21-13 by world number one and top seed An Se-young of the Republic of Korea in a 38-minute match. Earlier, the 18th-ranked doubles duo of Treesa and Gayatri lost 14-21, 21-17, 21-11 to the fifth-ranked Malaysian pair of Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan. The Indian pair had started strongly, taking the first game after holding an 11-7 lead at the interval and later establishing a 14-11 advantage in the second game, but the Malaysian duo fought back and dominated the decider. This followed an earlier quarter-final defeat for the Indian doubles pair against the same Malaysian duo at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan earlier in the month.
With these losses, India's entire campaign in the BWF Super 750 tournament came to an end, following earlier exits by other leading Indian shuttlers including PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth. Following this tournament, Indian shuttlers are scheduled to compete next at the French Open, which takes place from October 20 to 25.
