Delhi Capitals Name Chaminda Vaas as Fast Bowling Coach for 2027

Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Chaminda Vaas has been appointed as the fast bowling coach for the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League edition. This marks his first coaching stint in the IPL, where he will work alongside head coach Sourav Ganguly and recently appointed assistant and batting coach Yuvraj Singh. Vaas takes over the role from Munaf Patel, who served as the team's bowling coach for the prior two seasons.

The 52-year-old boasts an impressive playing record, taking 355 Test wickets and 400 ODI wickets for Sri Lanka, alongside playing in the IPL for the Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010, where he claimed 18 wickets across 13 matches. As a coach, Vaas brings extensive international experience, having previously served as Sri Lanka's fast bowling coach across three separate stints. His coaching career also includes a brief contract with New Zealand and a role as Ireland's bowling coach for the T20 World Cup in 2016.

With these major backroom staff changes, the Delhi Capitals aim to strengthen their setup under Ganguly's leadership as they prepare for the upcoming tournament seasons.
