Arunachal Wushu Association Seeks Government Backing for Major Events

The All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association recently sought coordination and support from the state government to host the 35th Junior National Wushu Championship and to strengthen preparations for the 39th National Games in the year 2027.

A delegation of office-bearers from the association met with Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini to discuss these upcoming sporting events and the overall development of Wushu in the state. During the meeting, the association invited Minister Jini to attend the upcoming championship as the Guest of Honour, an invitation that the minister has reportedly accepted. Additionally, the association plans to extend an invitation to the chief minister to serve as the Chief Guest for the event.

The upcoming championship is anticipated to gather athletes and officials from twenty-eight states and seven Union Territories, along with representatives from various sports institutions and branches of the armed forces including the Police, Army, Air Force, and Navy. This national-level competition will offer local participants a chance to compete broadly and evaluate their preparedness for the 39th National Games in 2027, an event where Arunachal Pradesh is scheduled to co-host Wushu.

To ensure the smooth execution of the tournament, the association has appealed directly to the chief minister, concerned ministers, department heads, the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Director of the Sports Authority, and other stakeholders for their active support and coordination. Organising this national sporting event will allow the region to demonstrate its capability to manage large gatherings and display its athletic potential, thereby creating enhanced opportunities for local competitors. The association expressed appreciation for the positive response received from the sports minister and called upon all relevant departments to collaborate closely for the success of the championship and the upcoming National Games.
