Tehran, October 19: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned the United States and Israel against further escalation, saying Tehran remains prepared to respond if tensions intensify. His remarks came after US President Donald Trump publicly backed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid growing regional tensions.
In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi responded to Trump's remarks about Washington and its allies potentially finishing the job if Iran does not change its course. The Iranian foreign minister challenged the US president, claiming that Iran had emerged stronger the last time Washington attempted to pressure Tehran.
“Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too,” Araghchi wrote.
He also accused Netanyahu of pushing the United States towards another conflict to protect his own political interests. Araghchi argued that such a move could have serious consequences for both Israel and the United States.
The exchange followed Trump's endorsement of Netanyahu ahead of Israel's upcoming elections. Trump praised the Israeli leader's handling of Iran and suggested that Israel needed a leader with Netanyahu's experience. He also warned that Washington could face a more difficult position if Israeli voters chose a different leader.
Araghchi's comments reflect continuing tensions between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv over Iran's regional policies and the possibility of renewed military confrontation.
The latest exchange of statements has raised concerns about further deterioration in relations between the countries. While the rhetoric has intensified, the immediate implications for regional security remain uncertain.
Developments in the coming days, including official responses from Washington and Tel Aviv, could provide further indications of the direction of diplomatic and security relations in the region.
