United States President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that Russia and China are not providing support to Iran amidst the ongoing crisis. The situation developed following an offensive launched in February by the United States and Israel.
Trump dismissed claims from political opponents regarding assistance from Beijing and Moscow to Tehran, stating that any potential help would be at a very low level or nonexistent. He argued that both international partners have too much to lose by taking such action and emphasized that the United States would detect any aid very quickly.
Russia and China maintain relations as two of Iran's main international partners. Following the unexpected offensive—which began during indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at securing a new nuclear deal—both countries have repeatedly called for a diplomatic solution to the escalating tensions.
