The Union tourism ministry is organising the three-day International Tourism Mart in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, starting Thursday to highlight the tourism potential of the Northeast and attract domestic and international visitors. This 14th edition runs from October 29 to 31, marking its return to Tawang after 13 years since it last hosted the event in 2013, following the previous mart held in Gangtok in November 2025.
Union tourism and culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, minister of state for tourism Suresh Gopi, and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu are scheduled to attend the October 29 inaugural programme. The opening features the North East Bazaar and cultural performances displaying regional traditions. More than 200 participants, consisting of domestic and international buyers and sellers alongside 43 international buyers from 22 countries, are expected to attend the event to promote regional tourism and business partnerships across the eight northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
Business-to-business meetings on October 30 will allow domestic and international buyers to interact with tourism operators. Technical sessions will concentrate on developing the live events and concert economy in the Northeast and improving tourist access to protected and restricted areas. Additionally, Royal Enfield will present experience-based tourism opportunities through immersive journeys, and a regional meeting of northeastern tourism ministers will take place on October 30 chaired by Shekhawat. The annual flagship initiative aims to promote the region in both domestic and international markets.
