Chinese Toy and Gift Makers Hope Tariff Cuts Boost US Orders

Chinese toy and gift manufacturers are anticipating a boost in United States orders following an agreement on reciprocal tariff reductions between China and the United States. During economic and trade consultations from September 20 to 23, the two countries agreed on product lists for US$30 billion in reciprocal tariff cuts, with the United States lowering tariffs on items including toys, home appliances, and holiday gifts.

Exporters in major manufacturing hubs such as Yiwu and Shantou are already reporting stronger demand and easier price negotiations from American customers. Business owners noted that the tariff reductions create positive signals, reduce buyer costs, and foster market confidence. Alongside the tariff agreement, Chinese exporters are diversifying into new markets and investing in product innovations like AI-powered toys to navigate trade uncertainty.

Moving forward, industry participants expect order volumes to increase while continuing to focus on market diversification, technological upgrades, and stronger brands to build long-term international business relationships.
