The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat rejected reports that Bodo language signage was removed from the Assembly building, calling the allegations completely false. Assembly Secretary Rajib Bhattacharyya stated in an official press release on Saturday that no decisions or actions were taken to remove the Bodo language from the premises.

The clarification was issued after the All Bodo Students Union raised strong objections on October 16 regarding the perceived removal. The organisation called the reported incident an insult to the Bodo community and warned it could revive the historic movement for a separate Bodoland state. ABSU noted that Bodo is an associate official language in Assam and demanded its immediate restoration.

The Secretariat explained that ongoing maintenance and repair work on the front facade caused temporary modifications, which led to misunderstandings and rumours. Officials urged the public and organizations to avoid unverified information and reaffirmed the legislature's dedication to respecting the linguistic diversity of the state and upholding official administrative standards. The statement aims to resolve concerns and controversy regarding the recognition of the Bodo language at the state legislature.
