Ukraine's navy stated on Thursday that it destroyed six Russian Su-34M military aircraft during an overnight missile strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield in Russia's Voronezh region. The navy utilized its Neptune coastal missile system for the operation, according to an official statement published on Telegram, as cross-border attacks involving energy infrastructure and shipping persisted.

Earlier on Thursday, a separate Ukrainian drone strike targeted Russia's Ryazan region, sparking a fire at an oil refinery owned by Russian oil major Rosneft. Regional governor Pavel Malkov confirmed that emergency services were deployed to the site to assess material damage, while noting that a warehouse elsewhere in the region also sustained damage. Additionally, authorities suspended classes at schools and kindergartens across two districts due to the mass drone attacks. The Ryazan facility, which accounts for nearly 5% of Russia's total oil-refining capacity and supplies fuel to Moscow, has faced multiple drone assaults in recent months. This incident marks the first reported Ukrainian attack on a Russian energy facility since US President Donald Trump stated that Russia and Ukraine agreed to an energy ceasefire, though neither government confirmed the truce.

Simultaneously, rescuers in Romanian territorial waters searched for eight missing crew members after two chemical tankers caught fire overnight near the mouth of the Sulina Canal. Romanian officials noted the fires followed Russian drone entries into Romanian airspace and recent strikes on cargo ships near Romania and Bulgaria.
